Red Cabbage

This is a recipe my grandma learned for my mom's stepfather. Swedish to the core, this and Glögg and St Lucia Buns mostly show up around Christmas.

This recipe also works well with green cabbage, but for Christmas we always have red.

Ingredients

(the amounts may vary slightly, depending on the size of your cabbage)

Directions

Core and shred the cabbage. Melt the butter and cook the cabbage in it for a few minutes, stirring constantly. Combine water, salt, sugar and vinegar, pour them over the cabbage. Cover and cook over low heat for about half an hour, stirring now and then. Serve hot.
