dissolve 3-1/2 c sugar in 2 c boiling water. In a sealable jug, put this, 2 oz (ca 3/4 c) instant coffee, and 1 chopped vanilla bean. Cool, and add 2-1/2 c cheap brandy. Let stand 30 days. Strain and bottle.
Don't cut corners: get a real vanilla bean, not extract. It's worth the cost..
